So you have decided to pop the question to your ladylove and you are looking for the perfect engagement ring. Well, why not purchase a diamond ring? Well, buying a diamond engagement ring is going to be an important decision and without the right guidance or research, you might end up spending an exorbitant amount. Cut is the most important factor and it will impact how the diamond looks to you visually. Hence, I recommend going for an ‘Excellent’ or atleast a ‘Very Good’ cut, by compromising on other diamond parameters if needed. FIND OUT HER RING SIZE

If she wears rings, borrow one she already owns and find out the size. Ask her family or best friend. Getting the correct size for the right finger is important so that the engagement ring you purchase fits her perfectly. Minor re-sizing can be made later, in case it doesn’t fit well. It’s always better to buy a ring a bit bigger than you think she’ll need, because sizing a ring down is much easier than increasing its size.

SELECTING THE RING

So you have selected the centre diamond, know her ring size and have shortlisted a few designs. Now, it’s time to finalize the ring design. Keep in mind her preferences, what she would like to wear everyday, whether she would like a single stone ring or something bigger with side diamonds. If you select a ring with side diamonds, my advice is that the color of the side diamonds should be lower or same as the centre diamond so as to highlight the centre diamond. Ask for proper certificates for the solitaire as well as the ring mount. You may consider buying insurance for the ring as well.
